SALISBURY, N.C. - Sept. 3, 2020 - After reviewing completed questionnaires and interviewing candidates, members of the North Carolina State AFL-CIO, a federation of Rowan County-area local unions, have voted to endorse Al Heggins for N.C. House District 76 in the Nov. 3 General Election.

“Standing up and speaking out for the rights, safe working conditions and living wages of workers is foundational to creating family-friendly work environments for laborers in the 76th and across our state,” Heggins said. “When we take care of workers, we take care of their families; and I promise to stand with workers and their families every step of the way. I thank the AFL-CIO for this endorsement.”

Southern Piedmont Central Labor Council President Tim Rory, a member of the postal workers’ union, said the N.C. AFL-CIO is proud to endorse Heggins in the Nov. 3 General Election.

“Al understands what working people want — to secure a fair return on our work, provide for ourselves and our families, and enjoy life,” Rory said.

N.C. AFL-CIO affiliates commit to doing their part to educate and mobilize union members and their families in support of Al Heggins and these other endorsed candidates.

The North Carolina State AFL-CIO is the largest association of unions of working people in North Carolina, representing 145,000 members, working together for good jobs, safe workplaces, workers’ rights, consumer protections, and quality public services on behalf of ALL working people.
